Write what happens in the shot, pick the camera framing, wide establishing, medium, close-up, over-the-shoulder, low or high angle, and choose a board style from loose pencil sketch to cinematic concept art. Work through your shot list scene by scene and you have a sequence you can drop into a pitch deck, animatic, or shooting script.

The scaffold encodes what makes a board readable at a glance: clear staging, character silhouettes that separate from the background, and framing language a DP or animator recognizes. Keep the same style selection across a sequence so the frames read as one board, and reuse the same wording for recurring characters so they stay recognizable from frame to frame.

Can it generate a whole storyboard in one go?

No, each generation produces one frame, so you board a sequence shot by shot. In practice that maps cleanly to a shot list: write one scene description per shot, keep the same board style selected, and assemble the frames in your deck or editing tool. A six-shot sequence takes about six prompts.

Will characters look the same across frames?

Not automatically. AI image models generate each frame independently, so a character can drift between generations. The practical workaround is to reuse the exact same character description in every scene ("a tall woman in a red trench coat and short gray hair") and keep one board style for the whole sequence. For approval-stage boards, consistent costume and silhouette is usually enough to read continuity.

What aspect ratios can I board in?

Frames generate at 16:9 by default, matching HD video and standard storyboard panels. You can also choose 21:9 for cinematic widescreen sequences or 4:3 for classic TV framing and animatic work targeting older formats.

Is the storyboard generator free?
